Policy for Official Social Media of the National Heisey Glass Museum and Heisey Collectors of America, Inc.:
- The National Heisey Glass Museum ("theMuseum") and Heisey Collectors of America, Inc. ("HCA") may establish and maintain a social media presence, including but not limited to a website, pages on Facebook and Instagram, and other social media pages or sites.
- The establishment of social media sites and pages for the Museum or HCA or both must be approved by the Board of Directors of HCA.
- The Director/Curator of the Museum is the Administrator of all official social media sites and pages of the Museum and HCA.
- All postings on the Museum’s and HCA’s social media on behalf of the Museum and HCA shall be by or at the direction of the Director/Curator or the President of HCA and shall further the mission of the Museum and HCA.
- The following types of postings or comments are not permitted:
- Those that contain hate speech or offensive, abusive, harassing, disrespectful, defamatory, obscene or otherwise unsuitable language.
- Those that are personal attacks, demeaning, derogatory or could be construed as defamatory of any individual.
- Those that disparage any product, company or individual.
- Those that are divisive in nature (e.g., religion, politics, social issues, etc.).
- Those that contain any private information including but not limited to: addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, social security numbers, employee communications, employment information and regular activities/discussions of the Board of Directors.
- Those that contain spam.
- Those that promote or offer to sell any products or services other than those offered by the Museum, HCA or a chartered study club.
- Those that promote any events other than those sponsored by the Museum, HCA or a chartered study club.
- Those that contain content that infringes on any copyright or trademark, including but not limited to any held by the Museum or HCA.
- The Curator/Director or his or her designee shall monitor postings and comments on the Museum’s and HCA’s social media sites on a daily basis and remove any postings or comments that violate this policy. Repeat offenders may be blocked from posting.
- The Curator/Director or his or her designee shall update the Museum’s and HCA’s social media sites on a regular basis.
Policy for Social Media of Chartered Study Clubs:
- HCA-chartered study clubs are encouraged to maintain a social media presence for the purpose of promoting and creating awareness of the club, the Museum, HCA, and Heisey glass in general, and furthering the mission of HCA and the Museum.
- Study clubs are encouraged to share official postings from the Museum’s social media on their own social media.
- The content of postings and comments on study clubs’ social media must comply with this policy.
Policy for Individual Social Media of Museum Employees and Directors:
- This policy applies to the individual social media of Museum employees and members of the Board of Directors when interacting on the Museum’s and HCA’s social media, and on social media sites and pages discussing the Museum, HCA, and Heisey glass.
- Postings by employees and directors on such social media sites should promote and create awareness of the Museum, HCA, and Heisey glass, and further the mission of HCA and the Museum.
- Employees and directors must refrain from posting on such social media sites and pages any content that would be prohibited on the Museum’s social media.
- Any opinions expressed on such social media sites and pages should be clearly identified as those of the individual, and not the Museum or HCA.
This policy replaces the "Social Media Administrator" policy approved April 13, 2012, in its entirety.
