2025 Dave Spahr Fall Select Auction Wrap-up

Heisey Auction wrap up

The annual Dave Spahr Fall Select Auction was held on October 18, 2025. This was a hybrid auction with in-person bidding at the GMP Local 244 Union Hall and online bidding through HiBid. Volunteers packed the glass that had been on display at the museum and set up at the Union Hall in time for a preview on Friday, October 17th from 4-6 PM. The preview was scheduled as part of the Percy and Vivian Moore weekend. The auction included 316 lots from 11 member consignors as well as HCA. Craig Connelly and Kevin Burchett served as auctioneers. Live bidding started at 12 noon ET.

Details of the auction are as follows:

  • In-person registrants: 31 bid cards with approximately 40 people in the gallery
  • Online registrants: 94
  • Total online views of the lots: 14,215
  • Total online bids: 1,658
  • Total revenue from glass sales and buyer’s premium: $40,831.80
  • Glass sales alone: $39,625.00
  • 53 HCA donated items realized: $4,450.00
  • We exceeded the expected proceeds from the fall auctions.

I want to thank all the volunteers, auction committee members, museum staff, and our Auction Firm Manager, Jennifer Miller. Walter Ludwig and Eric Tankesley-Clarke take the lead during cataloging, and their Heisey knowledge is one of the primary reasons the auctions are successful. A special thank you goes to Eric Tankesley-Clarke and Doug Olson for their work at the tech table at the Union Hall. Other HCA members that go above and beyond to make the auctions a success include Andy Baldus, Lisa Baldus, James Reck, Derek Smith, Bucky Will, and Mary Olson (I hope I didn’t leave anyone out). Behind the scenes, Karen Taylo kept an eye on the auction from Texas. Karen also stepped up and served as HiBid Coordinator for the fall auctions, and her expertise, time, and efforts made the fall auctions run smoothly. It is a pleasure to work with dedicated volunteers and museum staff members who together make cataloging and the actual auctions run smoothly.

I also want to thank individuals that donated glass, consigned glass, and purchased glass. We hope to see you at the 2026 Spring Benefit Auction (or bidding online at all of the spring auctions).
